It's a Fair day in New Jersey. The precise weather is very salutation after all of the gloomy ash-colored days last week. I got my landlady prototype and material approved on The christian sabbath, so I can finish that up this week. It's already cut out, and I've cut the boning. I right need to bruise and dip the ends of the boning, and congregate it. Then I can start construction the dress and hat for Sabulous (Lady Elizabeth). I delight in making hats, and the physical we bought on The day of rest for her dress is LUX. It's a very moderately beautiful green on verdant Damask with a choice part damask for the center body of jurors. Eighteenth hundred. And I'm making a verdant felt tricorner hat with maribou neat and a huge ostrich plume plume. It's from the Butterick 3805 historical hats exemplar. It's out of print, but I was proficient to find a copy on eBay. It's going to be fun!

While we were looking for pile at the Fabric Storehouse, I found something fabulous. They had a slab of linen cuts; each about 4 yards. I found a hoary linen that had a inky embroidery border on one side. Yes, it IS machine done embroidery, and in all probability not really an definitely period exemplar. But it's close--looks analogous a row of paisleys, one straight next to the other. Since I don't have the patience, duration or eyesight to do blackwork, this will certainly do. So, I'm going to have a faux-blackwork smock! WOO HOO! I'll cut out the sleeves with the "f-bw" on the ends, and then cut some of the marge off the edge and create a strip of "embroidery" to make go round into a square neckline into which I can assemble the body of the chemise. I got two four yard lengths, and the corporeal is 52 inches broad, so I should have enough to make my daughter one also. And it was only $4.00 per compound! Even cheaper than NYC linen cloth. Squee! Happy costumer!
