Benevolent staff and Italian air don’t make up for over-priced nourishment

Pierino’s Ristorante Italiano has approximately all the makings of a small Italian restaurant: the friable white tablecloths, walls covered in tapestries and oil paintings, and even a pricey menu. The one being they don’t have is fine aliment to match.

The last duration I came to the Keystone Passage location, the Keep Mart the eating-house sits next to was Albertson’s and Pierino’s was the old Reno beloved: The Coffee Jaw tooth.

I remember being entranced as a kid by the trays exuberant with fog from the dry ice at The Coffee Jaw tooth. At Pierino’s, I was entranced by the high-reaching quality menial duties and playful sweetness of sound of the Godfather soundtrack humming through the dining sweep. I only wish the collation was as enticing.

My loved associate Morgan and I strolled in for an seasonable dinner and were promptly seated in the close dining latitude. Our server greeted us with zest and read the specials, detailing each article of food. The busboy stood idly by and waited until we put in our take a drink order before approach over the fill our water spectacles.

The quick and finished service made me hopeful that the ease of the evening would go as well.

When our appetizers arrived, it was bright it wouldn’t: both the prosciutto and melon of the same-named viand ($10) tasted reasonable a day or two past their first. The melon was little mushy and lacked that burning sweetness that usually offsets the salty sustenance.

Morgan was blissful to be met with a pile of full-bodied tiny squid in her calamari fritti ($13). While it was rigorous that the dish wasn’t heavily breaded similar it is at most restaurants, it wasn’t enough to create up for the rubbery and chewy cuttle-fish.

After tasting the broth, I brightened up again. The minestrone was loaded with veggies and had a down-reaching, rich taste like it had been stewing all day.
